Panel 1: As he leaves the house, Elly tells Mike that his minty green face is barely noticeable while he insists it's still green, MA!
Panel 2: He then tells her that he's marching to his DOOM because he's the only kid in school who looks like he's dressed up for Halloween.
Panel 3: We find him at the bus stop with a bunch of regular kids dressed like regular kids who live in the late eighties. Since this is targeted at fearful boomer parents by a fearful boomer parent, the kid in the Kiss T-shirt, the girl with the over-sized sweater, Molly with her rat-tail and the others are supposed to be still dressed for Halloween because they don't look like extras from Happy Days.
Summary: As always, when Lynn looks at kids who don't dress the way she'd like them to, she insists on wailing about their hating her and wanting to destroy her because everything is a referendum on whether she's loved at all.
