Panel 1: We find out what Mike wanted to block out when Elly tells him that she and John are having a hard time dealing with his behaviour right now.
Panel 2: As he desperately tries to block out the noise, she whines that he's great one minute and terrible the next and that it's like a stranger moved into the house. (This probably means that they can't understand why they aren't the only people who influence his behaviour.)
Panel 3: As he sits there feeling like garbage because yet again, his idiot mother has made herself into the victim, Elly says that she just wanted to come up and
Panel 4: She then tells a child who's just been told that he shoved a dagger into his mother's heart and twisted it that he can go back to listening to his music.
Summary: The fun fact is that Elly has no God-damned idea that she looks like some pathetic slob wailing about daggers in her heart all the time. She thinks she appeals to reason and sense instead of braying about how everyone wants to kick her and laugh at her. It's why she explodes when this reality is pointed out to her.
