Today, John pays for his lack of vision by being amusingly inconvenienced and having to part company with his watch.

(Strip Number 4837, Original Publication Date, 30 July 1987)

Panel 1: Having dropped Elly and the kids at the church, John drives his garbage to the dump.

Panel 2: He then spots a big dumpster and thinks that he can just throw it in there.

Panel 3: As he tosses his load in, he congratulates himself on his supposed genius.

Panel 4: When his watch falls off, he's not nearly so happy.

Summary: That burning you feel, John? It is shame! He's not nearly as clever as he likes to think he is and he always pays for it. Just last year, his genius took the form of swamping a canoe and freezing on a rock.
