We end the week with Elly thought-bubbling that soft, lazy children who think that picking up after themselves is too much like work are brought into the world by soft, lazy parents who have their noses out of joint because their Depression kid parents don't see the point of emulating a damned vending machine, JOHN!!!

(Strip Number 4806, Original Publication Date, 30 May 1987)

Panel 1: John is impressed that Elly had the good idea of putting the kids to work.

Panel 2: After all, if you just hand them money, they have no idea of its actual value.

Panel 3: He complains that kids of this generation have no idea what hardship is and that they've had everything handed to them.

Panel 4: Elly thinks kids are a lot like people of their own generation.

Summary: This has happened before when Elly cuts him off in mid-lecture about how soft and entitled today's kids are by pointing out that the real reason he's whining is that Will and Carrie were actually careful with their money and had faced real hardship in their lives. Also, a man who does something like this:

has no right to call his children spoiled.
