Panel 2: After all, if you just hand them money, they have no idea of its actual value.
Panel 3: He complains that kids of this generation have no idea what hardship is and that they've had everything handed to them.
Panel 4: Elly thinks kids are a lot like people of their own generation.
Summary: This has happened before when Elly cuts him off in mid-lecture about how soft and entitled today's kids are by pointing out that the real reason he's whining is that Will and Carrie were actually careful with their money and had faced real hardship in their lives.
