(Strip Number 6696, Original Publication Date, 15 February 1987)
Panel 1: We start things off by having an impressed Mike tell Lizzie that she got twenty-seven Valentines.
Panel 2: She distractedly asks if that's all there is.
Panel 3: A little while later, she asks Elly why they show love with a heart instead of something else.
Panel 4: Elly asks her if she means a liver or a spleen and Lizzie says 'uh-huh!"
Panel 5: Elly tells Lizzie that maybe it's because when you're in love, you feel it in your heart.
Panel 6: Flashing back to last July, she says that when you're far away from that someone, it's like a deep ache in your heart.
Panel 7: A little while after that, John asks Lizzie what she and Mommy were discussing so seriously.
Panel 8: Lizzie says she was telling her about love.
Panel 9: John asks her what Elly says about love.
Panel 10: John is gobsmacked when Lizzie says that Elly says that it's a pain.
Summary: This will no doubt lead to pain when John asks Elly what she told Lizzie owing to his half-suspecting that his wife thinks that love and romance are annoying nuisances that simply mess everything up. This fear seems to override the part of his brain that reminds him that Mike and Lizzie often make a hash out of what parents say.
