We begin the next part of the "Connie's triumphant return" arc with Michael accidentally stating that Phil refers to Mrs Baird as 'that old fogy with the dogs.'

(Strip Number 1112, Original Publication Date, 26 January 1987)

Panel 1: Michael announces that Mrs. Baird is at the door.

Panel 2: Thelma asks to come in for a cuppa and some conversation.

Panel 3: Michael tells her that Phil saw her through the kitchen window.

Panel 4: Phil face-palms when Mike asks a horrified Elly the embarrassing question "Mom? What's a 'fogey'?"

Summary: Lynn seems to love the word 'fogey' because she can use it as a stick to beat younger people who call stodgy, humorless and timid Elly stodgy and humorless and timid over the head with.
