(Strip 6660, Original Publication Date, 4 January 1987)
Panel 1: We start things off a panicked Michael running somewhere.
Panel 2: Given that the next panel is Elly cringing when the door slams, it's safe to say that 'somewhere' was home.
Panel 3: The strip proper begins with Mike telling Elly to come quick because Lizzie's got her tongue stuck to the flagpole in the park.
Panel 4: Elly and Mike rush off to the park to save Lizzie.
Panel 5: Exasperated Elly says "Oh, LIZZIE....For Heaven's sake" when coming on scene and watching the Enjos stand around not knowing what to do.
Panel 6: Since she has no idea that she's supposed to use warm water to melt the ice, Elly slowly but surely frees Lizzie from the pole; since it's like pulling off a bandage, Lizzie is in pain.
Panel 7: Since Elly never met a lecture she didn't like and doesn't have much in the way of timing, she tells a crying Lizzie that she's told her a hundred times not to put her fingers or tongue on very cold metal.
Panel 8: That's because she told her that if she did, she'd stick to the surface. Lizzie knows this.
Panel 9: Elly asks her why she'd do such a thing knowing the consequences.
Panel 10: When Lizzie says that she wanted to know if it was true, Elly is gobsmacked.
Summary: This is because Elly never seems to have picked up on the whole concept of children being curious about the world. We seem to be dealing with Elly on her "Children should just accept everything I say without thinking for themselves" days. These days all end in the letter 'Y'.
