Panel 1: As Elly gushes over Greg in the background, Mike and Lawrence tell one another that they look different from when they last met.
Panel 2: Lawrence tells Mike that it's been a whole entire year since they last saw each other and people change in the very long time a year is to a child.
Panel 3: Smiling Upbeat Elly comes in the room and asks how it feels for the two best friends to be together again. Since it's been only a year, not much has happened so they should just be able to pick up where they left off.
Panel 4: Since a year is longer for a child than it is an adult, it surprises almost no one when both boys thought-bubble "My 'best friend' is a stranger."
Summary: This would, however, astonish Elly owing to her not really understanding how slow time seems to pass for her children. She always assumes that everyone around her also really sees time as passing by before they can catch up with it.
