For some reason, Lizzie sharpens her pencil to a nub and thinks it good.

(Strip Number 7233, Original Publication Date, 14 December 1986)

Panel 1: We find ourselves in Miss Blais's classroom watching an anxious Elizabeth raise her hand.

Panel 2: She smiles when given permission to sharpen her pencil.

Panel 3: She prepares to insert the relatively new pencil in the sharpener.

Panel 4: She inserts the pencil in the sharpener.

Panel 5: She grinds away at it....

Panel 6: ...and grinds away....

Panel 7: ....and grinds away....

Panel 8: ...until she has nothing left but a tiny little nub,

Panel 9: As her classmates look on in disbelief, she smugly thought-bubbles about the fact that she takes pride in making sure her pencils are SHARP.

Summary: This is what we call comically missing the point of something. This is also something that would have worked a lot better as a daily. I could easily rework it into one and it would play better.
