As Elly and Sue fret about their plan being a success, John alerts them that even if they don't succeed in saving the theater, they're getting blackmail fuel on the town worthies.

(Strip Number 4702, Original Publication Date, 30 October 1986)

Panel 1: As the party continues, Sue reminds Elly that all the key players are there: the people from the Downtown Development Board, the Chief of Police, the Mayor, everyone is there at Elly's thing.

Panel 2: Elly hopes to convince them to restore the theatre instead of tearing it down to build whatever's going to replace it and hopes to get them to give her a grant.

Panel 3: John shows up and says he thinks they are starting to sway the town council.

Panel 4: That's because one of them has just fallen over.

Summary: This is why I could have gotten behind howtheduck's proposal to show the town worthies that everyone needs it instead of this stupid drunken piss-up that's tasteless, stupid and poorly thought out.
