Today's strip has Michael propose an ever neat way to use the ever neat stuff to save the theatre: a Halloween party.

(Strip Number 4695, Original Publication Date, 17 October 1986)

Panel 1: Mike marvels at the costumes and says that he didn't know that the theatre guild had such ever neat stuff.

Panel 2: Elly tells him that if the theatre is torn down, they'll have to find someplace else to put it.

Panel 3: Mike says that this ever neat place is an ever neat goldmine. She asks him what he means.

Panel 4: When he tells her "Think, Mom. One word: 'HALLOWEEN!'," she looks at him as if he's sprouted a third eye because the idea of having an ever neat costume party would never spontaneously occur to a mind as barren of imagination as her own.

Summary: Back when this first appeared, I had an inkling of what Mike's ever neat plan was: to make the place such a great place that the council would not tear it down. Elly doesn't see it quite yet, though.
