We remind ourselves that Lynn's understanding of theology and the natural world came to a shuddering halt when she was five years of age when Mike and Lizzie assume that God likes to arrange things so as to delight imbecile white children.

(Strip Number 4690, Original Publication Date, 10 October 1986)

Panel 1: We find ourselves watching Mike and Lizzie remind each other that the leaves have started to turn for the autumn.

Panel 2: Since he dozed off in science class when they were talking about this, Mike wonders why some trees turn different colors.

Panel 3: He then says that it's almost as if God makes all of the leaves different colors just to make Autumn more beautiful.

Panel 4: Elizabeth thinks God is like that.

Summary: This fridge-worthy strip is an example of Lynn pandering to a group of people who think that telling the kids the truth ruins their childhood and destroys their faith. Me, I say learning about how the breakdown of chlorophyll reveals the colors that were there all along is just as 'magical' as divine ink and paint departments.
