Today, Lizzie is evil and bad and wrong because she deliberately refuses to read Elly's mind and automatically know how much water to give the plants. You can see Elly's problem. A good child wouldn't need to be told how much water to give.

(Strip Number 4689, Original Publication Date, 8 October 1986)

Panel 1: Elly tells Elizabeth that she's big enough to have a new responsiblity.

Panel 2: She now has "water the plants" added to set the table and clean her room.

Panel 3: Lizzie overwaters the plants because she wasn't told how much to use. Since Elly thinks she's doing it on purpose, she winces in anger.

Summary: This, of course, is another example of children being evil because they do not read minds. Most of the humor and pathos seems to derive from a mush-headed boomer nincompoop parent making the 'reasonable' assumption that children are instantly good at things only to have them angst when their children defy and antagonize them by 'pretending' that they have no idea what to do to so they can waste a boomer imbecile's time. For another example of this, we have Imbecile Boomer Scott and Boomer Numbnuts Borgmann's 'Zits'.
