Sue irritates Elly by offering her mimes as assistants to her picket line.

(Strip Number 4681, Original Publication Date, 23 September 1986)

Panel 1: We find ourselves at the library watching an excited Sue tell Elly that other local artists are willing to join her in helping to save the Old Town Hall Theatre.

Panel 2: She goes on to explain that they're going to give live performances the rest of the week.

Panel 3: Elly tells Sue that she'll show the sports-obsessed city council that the arts have a voice in the community.

Panel 4: When she sees that the actors are belong to something called Concept 2 Mime, she rolls her eyes because they don't speak when they perform and thus cannot shout people into listening to Elly's lecture about how she should get to decide what tax money is spent on.

Summary: What bothers me about this is not that Lynn thinks that waving placards is futile and makes people look at you funny but how blatant she is about how foolish a situation Elly has wandered into. Of course Elly would get mimes to help because she's supposed to win by letting a politician take care of things. Oh, dear. She's stealing from Batiuk and Evans now.
