Panel 1: We find ourselves in Mike's room as the back of his head listens to loud, incoherent and discordant mush on the radio.
Panel 2: Said gentle, soothing sounds about drugging one's self irritate John.
Panel 3: John tells Elly "I don't know about you but I can't stand that music."
Panel 4: Since Elly is clearly positioning John to be the ogre in this mess, she makes a speech about how she doesn't want to look like some intolerant idiot who has a default hatred for the modern sounds.
Panel 5: She then asks him to please put up with it for half on an hour.
Panel 6: Half an hour later, he yells that Mike's time of listening to music any longer is up.
Panel 7: He storms upstairs all rage-faced, ready to get into another useless argument that escalates pointlessly.
Panel 8: To his confusion, Mike is nowhere to be seen.
Panel 9: He asks Lizzie where he is but the child doesn't know.
Panel 10: You see, he left the house half an hour ago.
Summary: Elly doesn't really like Mike's music either but she likes being 'the bad guy' less. If John is present, he gets all the aggravation of discipline with none of the being longed for. We get to see this when neither of them are willing to believe Mike's EVIL LIE about missing an exit by mistake. Both of them believe he deliberately missed the exit to endanger what rat bastard idiot John really loved (his damned CAR) but she wants to be lenient about it.
