Panel 1: Having realized that town council was lying to her about even considering saving the theater, an enraged Elly wonders how the Hell her group is supposed to plan for a theater season if they don't even know if they're going to have a theater.
Panel 2: She makes John wonder if her real name is Dawn Quixote by frothing at the mouth when she says that it's time to advertise their cause and take the fight to the public.
Panel 3: She shows off the sandwich board she made to raise awareness in a community that's pretty much pro-tearing down the theater and asks him what he thinks.
Panel 4: John tells her that he expects her to get laughs but not much action.
Summary: This is because he's hiding something from her: the issue was decided on long ago. As the television adaptation proves, most people see Elly as being an irritating and sanctimonious ignoramus wasting her and their time fighting for something no one cares about.
