Elly's rare bit of useful advice about how the clothes make the man collides with the fact she's married a buffoon who wants to embarrass her.

Panel 1: Whiny idiot Mike asks Elly why she wants him to try on all them dumb clothes anyhow.
Panel 2: She goes into full-on stupid-looking closed-eyed jabby-fingered pompous idiot lecture mode as she tells him that she wants him to look nice for school because if he looks like a slob, people are going to see a slob, little realizing that if she looks like a crazy woman, people are going to see a crazy woman.
Panel 3: She then drops the clothes make the man bomb on him.
Panel 4: When they walk by John (who looks like something the cat dragged in), he asks Elly what Mike is laughing at.
Summary: What he's laughing at is a man who cannot dress himself without looking like a maniac because he's rebelling against the common sense Elly is preaching today. John isn't big enough a deal to look like a cartoon either. Also, being grateful he's alive didn't last long, did it?
