John's homecoming leads to his making a mildly sarcastic comment about how greedy and needy and entitled the children are.

(Strip Number 1077, Original Publication Date, 19 August 1986)

Panel 1: We find ourselves in the driveway watching Mike and Lizzie get all giddy and happy that Daddy is back from Unnecessary Hardship Island.

Panel 2: As he gets out of the car, Carol explains that the welcoming committee is due to the fact that Phil and John's unintelligence crusade has made the papers, radio and TV.

Panel 3: Having decided that they've become too clingy and hugged John for too long, Elly tells them to ease off.

Panel 4: He sort of defends them by saying that this is the first time he's come home from a trip that hasn't had them ask what he got them.

Summary: I should think that John is being used as a mouthpiece for a frustrated and stingy Lynn today.
