We come to the tail end of the arc with John being glad that his troubles are now limited to having a horrible cold.

(Strip Number 4663, Original Publication Date, 18 August 1986)

Panel 1: As she drives them back home, John tells Elly that he's never been so glad to see anything as he was that rescue plane.

Panel 2: He then says that he hurts all over, his head is pounding and he's catching a cold.

Panel 3: He then gives vent to a minute or so of coughing.

Panel 4: Still though, it's good to be alive!

Summary: I should think that the notes will be all about how all Rod's posing had gotten him was a written-off plane, a near-death experience and a cold. Anything to avoid revealing that she hasn't the vaguest idea of what happened.
