As John recounts the story of his and Phil's harrowing (and unnecessary) struggle for survival, Phil makes a flippant comment about the company he forced upon himself by being panicky and stupid.

(Strip Number 1076, Original Publication Date, 15 August 1986)

Panel 1: Before they leave, John wants the group to take a last look around their campground.

Panel 2: He says that if they hadn't made it to the island, had the waterproof matches and found the lean-to, he and Phil would have been out of luck.

Panel 3: He then says that they'd spent three days huddled around the fire.

Panel 4: Phil stage-whispers that John's the ugliest broad he ever slept with to the lead SARtech.

Summary: Once again, we're dealing with the fact that John and Phil would have never been in this mess if they hadn't abandoned their canoe like nitwits. Also, they would have seen how close they were to civilization if they'd taken a real look around the island instead of huddling around a fire like some sort of spineless, cosseted idiot whose idea of hardship is waiting in line for her double-double or having the wrong snacks to go with her beer.
