Panel 1: No dialogue! Now that's the way to do it. Passive voice was not used. In the color version, though, Liz is the only spectator in full color: symbolic.

Panel 2: What the heck's happening here? A literal peace pipe? Is that authentic?

Panel 3: Well, this is definitely better than being told how to interpret it.

Panel 4: Oh, yuck.

The thing is, if I were the focus of this kind of ceremony, I would probably be so overwhelmed that I would break down crying. It would make it so hard for me to leave. This whole business of being honored just before she leaves only serves to further the impression that this is an extension of Liz's college experience. Instead of a junior year abroad, or a summer in Tibet or South America, Liz spends two years in a Native village, and leaves on a high note, with many memories to cherish. She's had her adventure, and now it's time to settle down to a white-bread suburban existence. Grr.

And are we ever going to find out Liz's spirit name?!
