John can get behind wilderness camping when said experience has air conditioning, a comfy bed, cable television and a wake-up call at five. Also, Phil is still fair-haired.

(Strip Number 1060, Original Publication Date, 18 July 1986)

Panel 1: As he and John check into the motel, Phil says that they might as well bunk there because there's no point in camping out.

Panel 2: He then says that he's arranged for a five o'clock wake-up call; after that, they're have breakfast in the dining lounge and be on the lake at seven.

Panel 3: We then see them in a well-appointed room watching television.

Panel 4: John tells Phil that so far, wilderness camping suits him just fine.

Summary: This, I should think, will be his only pleasant memory of the trip; this is because he'll end up being the humiliated idiot Lynn wanted Rod to be. It galls and confuses her that danger shared is something to boast about because a bully like her does not understand how people with courage think.
