(Strip Number 4622, Original Publication Date, 30 May 1986)
Panel 1: We find ourselves at the stage at the Old Town Hall as Sue tells Elly she can put her podium wherever she wants to.
Panel 2: Elly tells Sue is impressed with how beautiful the old hall is.
Panel 3: She goes on to say that it's a landmark and a piece of their heritage.
Panel 4: Elly is shocked when Susan says it is being torn down.
Summary: While I am also not a fan of the trend towards tearing down fine old buildings to replace them with structures of the utmost banality, I find the execution of this arc lacking because neither Lynn nor Elly see the real problem. Only at the very end of it do we see the real problem when she unintentionally reveals something she doesn't herself see. This thing she shows us without realizing that she's done so is that the motive force behind the wrecking ball is a politician with an edifice complex.
