We end the week at the florist's as John cops to the fact that he'll end up going from infancy to senility without dealing with the intermediate step of maturity.

(Strip Number 1049, Original Publication Date, 10 May 1986)

Panel 1: We find ourselves at Marian's Florists today as John puts in an order for three bunches of roses for Mother's Day. He specifies that she's getting one from each kid.

Panel 2: Marian the Florist tells him that he said they only had two children. John sort of confirms that.

Panel 3: She smiles as he explains that she's getting one from each child and one from him.

Summary: This is because she does something Elly is incapable of: understanding self-deprecating humor. This matches John's inability to understand who Elly is and why she might be desperate enough to accept any sign that he does despite roses saying [Timmy Turner's Dad]"Hi, honey! I have no idea who you are and don't care! Here are some dead plants!!"[/Timmy Turner's Dad]
