Panel 1: We find ourselves in the kitchen watching The Ungrateful Wretch being surprised by the fact that St Elly has come home early and thus prevented him from spreading chaos and eating snacks instead of cleaning the gutters and preparing a meal like a good, responsible child.
Panel 2: As he makes a failed attempt to clean up his mess and as she glares at him reprovingly, he reminds her that she usually comes home with Dad in the evening.
Panel 3: She continues to glare as he explains that he just had a little snack and was about to clean up.
Panel 4: As he scrambles in the false belief that he won't be ratted out to Daddy Douchebag for parasitism and counter-revolutionary behaviour, St Elly smiles as she thought-bubbles that there's nothing like the element of surprise.
Summary: There's also nothing like the element of maybe not making a great big deal of letting the kid have a little bit of free time. Honestly. These people parent as if allowing him time to goof off will mean that he won't know how to work later on.
