(Strip Number 6690, Original Publication Date, 20 April 1986)
Panel 1: We find ourselves watching Elly look at her closet with a sort of weighing stare.
Panel 2: She then takes a bundle of old clothes out to try them on.
Panel 3: The strip most people will see starts with her straining to get into a dress.
Panel 4: The second outfit shows off something of a muffin top.
Panel 5: We next find her not quite able to zip up some slacks.
Panel 6: The fourth outfit is a dress that shows off the hips ruined by childbirth.
Panel 7: As she passes by him, John asks her what she's doing with her old clothes like it's his business or something.
Panel 8: She tells him she's donating them all to the Goodwill.
Panel 9: Since he still thinks that he deserves input into the process, John asks why.
Panel 10: Bleary-eyed idiot Elly lies and says that they're out of style.
Summary: First off, it ain't his business what she does with them. Second, we're in for another round of wailing about the phantom ten pounds of making her fat and pale and ugly because she's too weak to resist temptation instead of a reminder that even if they'd have fit well, she'd have had to do this because she'd be behind the fashion curve.
