Panel 1: Lizzie tells John that she can't make Farley do anything. Since he won't sit or lie down, he's a dumb dog.
Panel 2: Daddy mansplains that Farley isn't stupid; the problem is that she has to have authority in her voice and make a strong, simple command.
Panel 3: When he commands Farley to sit, however, nothing happens because he's never been trained to associate the word with having to sit on his haunches.
Panel 4: John thought-bubbles about how stupid Farley is for not understanding LOUD English either.
Summary: Once again, the Pattersons fail to realize that Farley has something called an associative memory; what this means is that they're training him to associate the command "sit" with them getting agitated and storming out of the room in frustration.
