Panel 1: We find Elly in bed asking herself why she made that horrible comment to Ted and Irene; she answers herself by calling herself an insensitive clod.
Panel 2: She then tells herself that she's a dimwit who never learns from experience when she asks herself why she never thinks before she speaks.
Panel 3: She tells herself that this is the problem with agonizing over things after midnight.
Panel 4: The only one who answers her questions is herself.
Summary: This is why she's so hungry for Connie to return, I should think. Connie has all the right answers...if, by 'right', we mean "telling Elly to go forth and be stupid."
