(Strip Number 7031, Original Publication Date, 16 February 1986)
Panel 1: We find ourselves watching a happy-looking Farley follow Elly as she brings in the groceries.
Panel 2: As she sets the bag down, he makes a playful-sounding yip as if he were a child asking what Mommy got him.
Panel 3: Elly smiles as she produces the mouse squeaky toy we often see on the website; as she demonstrates it, Farley gets all wary.
Panel 4: She continues to squeak the toy while he tries to figure out what it is.
Panel 5: He sniffs the thing.
Panel 6: When he puts a paw on it, it makes an odd noise.
Panel 7: He then tentatively puts it in his mouth.
Panel 8: We next see the "Farley plays with his chew toy" image from the News and Notes section as he bites down on it and it makes a mighty squeak.
Panel 9: Having decided that he likes the noise his new thing makes, he makes a LOT of joyful noise. Since he's a dog, he can't understand the connection between his enjoying the squeaky sound and the fact that Elly is IN DESPAIR because this world in which Farley makes noise FILLS HER WITH DESPAIR!!!!
Summary: As for me, I'm filled with loathing and contempt. This is because it's really freaking obvious that Farley is interpreted as being out to get her because she can't think things through again.
