Today's strip has John terrify a patient by confessing that work is where he goes to relieve the stress of having to deal with the Olds Who Never Leave.

(Strip Number 4552, Original Publication Date, 17 January 1986)

Panel 1: We find ourselves at the clinic watching John and Jean's replacement Jennifer working on a patient; as he asks for a clamp, he talks about how hard it is having other people live with them.

Panel 2: He then says that he wants three things: to sleep in his own bed, to be able to walk to the biff in his Stanfields and for his assistant to hand him an explorer.

Panel 3: Oh, don't get him WRONG or anything; he loves his in-laws BUT they drive him crazy.

Panel 4: When he spins up his drill and says that he's glad that he can take out his frustrations on his work, he manages to scare the patient.

Summary: Great. Another incompetent, careless, thoughtless dentist joke. Whenever I see him at his paces, I keep remembering Steve Martin's role in Little Shop Of Horrors.
