Panel 1: We find ourselves watching a delighted Mike exclaim that yes, by golly, Lawrence and his mom are sure here.
Panel 2: Despite knowing that she would come, Elly says that she can't believe that Connie is really here either.
Panel 3: She then comments on how great Connie's new hairdo is and she's lost weight and looks ten years younger.
Panel 4: When Connie laughs and says Elly hasn't changed, we can she that Elly doesn't think that's a compliment.
Summary: The interesting thing is not that we're about to return to the soap opera. The interesting thing is that Connie eventually becomes a mere device that tells us how wonderful Elly is.
