We introduce the Christmas pageant with Lizzie getting literal about what being a star is.

(Strip Number 989, Original Publication Date, 11 December 1985)

Panel 1: As John puts his coat away after coming home from work to find, an excited Lizzie tells him she gets to be the star of the upcoming Christmas play.

Panel 2: She lists the actors of all the major roles. We have Sherrilee as the verging Mary, Gerard as Joseph, the twins and Kelley are the three kinds, Jaime is a shepherd, and other children get to be cows.

Panel 3: John interrupts because she didn't list her name yet and asks how she is the star.

Panel 4: She explains that she IS the star and gets to hold a flashlight on a stick! Since he's an idiot, this literal comment baffles him.

Summary: This sort of strip is why I'm against "Kids say the darnedest things" humor; always and ever, honest ignorance and an inability to see the world in adult terms is presented as being as funny as animal abuse and ethnic humor.
