As she goes over her to-do list for Christmas, Elly bemoans the fact that she isn't going to ever work off her over-consumption.

Panel 1: Elly reminds herself that not only will Lawrence and Connie be there, they'll be joined by Jim, Marian, Phil and Georgia.

Panel 2: She then tells herself that she's in for a busy holiday season.

Panel 3: That's because she'll be cleaning, cooking, and organizing for a solid month.

Panel 4: She pauses from her labors to wish that the calories she puts out over the holidays were equal to what she eats.

Summary: This might explain why she doesn't really want help. She's trying to housework her way to slenderness.
