(Strip Number 857, Original Publication Date, 17 May 1985)
Panel 1: We find ourselves in a classroom watching excited children listening to a voice on the PA system telling them to settle down so they can hear the results of the school cake raffle draw.
Panel 2: Mike tells Lawrence that he can't wait to take home HIS chocolate fudge cake which is his because he's supposed to win.
Panel 3: Everyone gasps when it's revealed that the winning ticket is number 661. The reason for everyone's shock is real damned stupid because it assumes that bad people aren't supposed to win and stuff.
Panel 4: When the person on the public address system congratulates Brad (who's heading to the office to claim his prize) for winning the draw, it's Mike's turn to go into full-on goggle-eyed, triangle-mouthed horror.
Summary: The really interesting thing about this is not that a loser needed to win. (That, by the way, is Lynn's code phrase meaning that she was a septic jackass to everyone she met because she's afraid of everything and lashes out in a blind fury.) The really interesting thing is that greedy idiot Mike would have been just as traumatized if anyone else had won HIS cake that HE has to win because he is also a loser (in that he can't shove Lizzie aside or chase her away) who needs compensation for a made-up God-damned privation.
