(Strip Number 4492, Original Publication Date, 8 April 1985)
Panel 1: We find Elly in her hotel room as she gets ready to leave for home. As she reviews a checklist, she reminds herself that she has bought gifts for the kids and clothes for John.
Panel 2: She then thought-bubbles that she's met his parents, Beth and members of her own family.
Panel 3: She looks at her watch and tells herself that if she hurries, she can get some more personal shopping before she has to be at the airport.
Panel 4: As she rushes down to the shops, she laments that "business" trips are exhausting.
Summary: The 'joke' is that the really exhausting part is having to be a slave to the needs of other people. This means that Lynn is nagging her family about their "stupid" and "selfish" need to "invade" her privacy by reminding her of their existence. We'll get more of that at the beginning of the "Aaron isn't nearly grateful enough on Mother's Day" arc when Mike's actually going to the library is regarded as the occasion for baffled horror.
