In today's strip, Claire tells Elly that if she's going to feel guilty about getting away from her demanding and clingy infants, she should be away for longer to deserve it.

(Strip Number 4489, Original Publication Date, 4 April 1985)

Panel 1: As they attend one of the workshops, Elly tells Claire Mike and Lizzie phoned her last night and that they really miss her.

Panel 2: Claire tells her not to feel so guilty about leaving the kids behind because it's only been two days.

Panel 3: Elly says it doesn't matter how long it is, she'll feel guilty.

Panel 4: Claire suggests that next time she takes two weeks.

Summary: What bothers me is that neither she nor John ever really seem to want to address the problem I talked about yesterday: the fact that their kids believe that Mommy and Daddy are just going to go away forever and never come back and leave the kids that they HATE behind forever. This, I should think, is owing to Alleged Mother Elly's belief that children only fake emotions to be bad to their mothers and deny them freedom and happiness and so on and so forth.
