Panel 2: Mike goes for the right-hand side hair part, while Deanna is going for the subtler “my bangs are longer on the sides than in the middle” approach. Bonus points for Mike and Dee for pointing out to us that in the middle of dealing with their child’s illness they can still think of the Kelpfroths. Baby Robin suddenly joins in the hair game by sweeping his hair off his forehead. Deanna quickly puts on his wrist restraints to remove him from the competition; however Deanna loses points for overextending her body from the end of the crib to Robin. Leaning straight over the rail would have been more graceful, but the judges do appreciate seeing her breasts squeezed against the crib rail.
Panel 3: A daring move by Deanna by growing to be the same height as Mike, but Mike responds by developing a pointy-headed topnotch. Deanna gets the thankless exposition dialogue. I suppose that since Deanna looked pretty good in panels 1 and 2, this dialogue would be necessary to point out what the artist was not capable of drawing.
Panel 4: Mike goes for the kill with a hair part move from the right-hand side in panel 2 to the middle in this panel and adds in slight sideburns and bedroom eyes to boot. A master stroke in hair changing, folks. I think he has won it. Deanna’s only counter is an “eyebrows holding the bangs up” maneuver. Mike claims the victory and the punchline. Yes, ladies. In case you didn’t know already. Boys just want to have sex.
I suppose that Mike believes that since he has actually paid some parenting dues with Robin, that a wifely reward should be coming his way. Poor misguided fool.
