We continue merrily on with our series of "Strips That Show Us What Elly Is Fleeing From" as Lizzie 'helps' Elly by ruining her sweater.

(Strip Number 7180, Original Publication Date, 31 March 1985)

Panel 1: We start things off with Lizzie picking up Elly's sewing basket and just dumping everything out on the table.

Panel 2: She then thought-bubbles about how Mommy was right about her sewin'basket bein'a mess.

Panel 3: The strip most people will see begins with Lizzie scaring the crap out of most people by threading a needle without adult supervision. As she does so, we are made to pay close attention to a sweater that's somehow lost its buttons.

Panel 4: She then starts sewing a button on the sweater.

Panel 5: She next sews another button on it.

Panel 6: Having finished clumsily sewing buttons on her sweater, she asks Mike to take a look at her not-really-handywork.

Panel 7: When she fishes for a compliment, he tries to not hurt her feelings by telling her that she did a lousy job.

Panel 8: He then sets up the punchline by asking how the buttons came to be missing in the first place.

Panel 9: She boasts that she cut them off.

Panel 10: It's all good though 'cause Mom will never know the dif'rence!

Summary: The really irritating thing is not that Lizzie is going to get yelled at because she ruined the sweater and made more work for Elly nor that no child has ever behaved like this unless being told to by the director of the sitcom she's starring in. The really irritating thing is that we're in for a Little Lynnie show about what a great seamstress Lynn was.
