(Strip Number 4474, Original Publication Date, 28 February 1985)
Panel 1: As Elly arrives at work, Susan tells her that she's unable to attend a largish workshop that's being held in Winnipeg.
Panel 2: She then holds up the pamphlet for a puppetry workshop and asks Elly if she can go in her place.
Panel 3: Elly tries to duck the issue by reminding Susan that she'd have to hire a sitter and get her house in order and couldn't possibly take off on a whim.
Panel 4: When Susan holds up the plane tickets and explains that the hotel is taken care of, Elly clams up and smiles broadly.
Summary: Given that she's been offered a free trip away from an asshole husband who thinks she's his mommy and clingy children who she thinks are trying to destroy her, I kinda get why she's smiling. Also, given that Lynn has 'decided' that librarians have nothing better to do with their free time than to entertain children for busy mothers with no help and no time to themselves, I kinda get why the real-world librarians were complaining.
