(Strip Number 791, Original Publication Date, 26 January 1985)
Panel 1: After Phil leaves, Elly tells Mike that no one is actually trying to force him to learn an instrument despite the fact that he knows that he's being coerced into doing something that's become another chore he's being yelled at for never doing well at.
Panel 2: When he asks if he should stop doing something that only gets him yelled at and makes him feel like a worthless failure, Elly tells him a lie about how it's his decision because she expects him to stay the course.
Panel 3: When Elly reassures him that she won't get mad, he says that he quits.
Panel 4: As one could expect, Elly's reaction to what she sees as his not caring about his future and wanting to die in the gutter is to scream "OVER MY DEAD BODY" so loudly, the dead can hear it.
Summary: You might think that this is the lowest that Elly can sink to but you'd be wrong. This is because in a year or so, she'll respond to his pathetic pleas about being torn in two with a dismissive comment about his making things up just to be dramatic.
