(Strip Number 4467, Original Publication Date, 23 January 1985)
Panel 1: Having noticed that Mike is simply treading water when it comes to trumpet practice, an exasperated Phil asks his nephew how he's supposed to get anywhere without putting in the time like everyone else.
Panel 2: Mike gets all defensive and insists that he's indeed practiced.
Panel 3: Phil calls Mike's bluff and tells him to show him what it is he's practiced.
Panel 4: This leads a confused and angered Phil to face-palm when confronted with the fact that all Mike can do is balance the trumpet on one finger.
Summary: I can understand Phil's feeling of being betrayed. He'd hoped so much to solo with the kid only to have him turn into a goof-off. I can even sort of tolerate it because he never quite understands what the problem is. This is because he's not privy to Saturday's strip.
