We start the annual "Mike versus trumpet practice" arc with Phil getting on John's bad side by reminding him that he can be mistaken for part of the furniture.

(Strip Number 4455, Original Publication Date, 18 January 1985)

Panel 1: We start things off with a pissed-off John complaining about how much his cast itches.

Panel 2: He then reminds us that he hates crutches, sitting around and all the other bullshit he's gotta deal with.

Panel 3: He thought-bubbles about how he wants to get out and do things again.

Panel 4: Sadly, Phil materializes into his field of view and makes a snotty comment about how John is lazing around again.

Summary: While I can feel sorry for John, he doesn't really have a grievance here. This is because before he retreated into his workshop, he spent most of the stip prostrate on the sofa complaining being worked to death.
