(Strip Number 783, Original Publication Date, 14 January 1985)
Panel 1: As our story continues, we find Elly has returned from her trip outside. Since she's still in panic mode from wondering who the terrible dog-stealing dog thieves in the blue van might be, she looks as if she's been hit on the back of the head with a two-by-four when she tells John that Unknown Male Passerby Down The Street saw that thieving dog thieves in a blue dog-theft van have taken Farley away.
Panel 2: John is as confused as Elly because he has no idea of what sort of person would just pack Farley into a blue van either.
Panel 3: We shift focus to the local animal shelter where we find one of the employees telling his co-worker Tim that the large sheepdog he's brought in has been wandering around loose without a license, collar or anything that could identify him as being someone's pet.
Summary: The odd thing is that when most people read Saturday's strip, they probably thought "Well, it was only a matter of time before Farley got picked up by the dog catcher"; what they didn't realize is that the Pattersons were too stupid to see this sort of thing coming.
