Today's strip has John comment about how ironic it is that people can't predict the future.

(Strip Number 773, Original Publication Date, 27 December 1984)

Panel 1: We find ourselves watching John walk towards the front door of his practice on his crutches.

Panel 2: As he sits down next to the receptionist's desk, Jean asks him what he got for Christmas.

Panel 3: He frowns as he says that he got just what he wanted.

Panel 4: He frowns even harder when he says that that something was skis.

Summary: Lynn would have us believe that he's being a big baby. The sad thing is that he's acting like someone in his position should by being mildly pissed at the irony. Ah, well. He'll just have to use'em next year.
