We begin the "John breaks his foot" arc with his being baffled by how big the words 'Not Really' can get.

(Strip Number 759, Original Publication Date, 6 December 1984)

Panel 1: Later that day, John says that he's going downtown and asks Elly if she needs anything.

Panel 2: She says "not really" but tells him to wait a second or two.

Panel 3: She then gives John a long shopping list, asks him to pick up some clothes at the cleaners, to get a big turkey and to take Lizzie along with him.

Panel 4: As he and Lizzie walk to the hoverwagon, a flabbergasted John is amazed that she started that with "not really".

Summary: And John has been married to Elly how long exactly? Seems to me that if he and she are as close as they claim to be, he'd know what 'not really' really meant, right?
