We find ourselves watching Liz and Mike's need to one-up one another screw Farley out of the attention he craves today.

(Strip Number 7025, Original Publication Date, 2 December 1984)

Panel 1: We start things off with Farley standing on the back porch barking in order to get some attention from the humans.

Panel 2: Since barking didn't produce the result he associates with it, he's confused that no one comes running like they usually do.

Panel 3: We start the strip proper with a bored Farley 'sighing' because he's lonely.

Panel 4: Suddenly, relief appears in the form of the human child the alpha female calls "Mai-k'l". Farley is delighted by the human and the "Hai-yuh-far-liy-hai-boi" sounds he made because those usually mean he's going to be played with.

Panel 5: When the smaller female human they call 'Lih-ziy' comes in and says 'Gah-cher-bol-far-liy-wo-nuh-plei-fech?', he's even happier because that means he gets to play with two of his packmates.

Panel 6: Sadly, his joy is short-lived. This is because for reasons he can't ever understand, the humans are yelling at one another. He doesn't know what "Ai woz hiir frrst" or "Hiyz mai dog tuw" but angry screaming is always bad.

Panel 7: As he tries to figure out why they aren't playing, he has to listen to the loud, angry sounds "Teikahflizi. AIMpleyingwithim" and "Aigettapleiwithimtu-ifaiwonttu."

Panel 8: He's really confused by their yelling "WelifYORgonapleiwithim-AIMNOT" at one another because no one is playing fetch with him.

Panel 9: As they storm off, he doesn't know why. It might have something to do with the verbalizations they just made but he can never know that for sure.

Panel 10: In any event, he's alone again and bored and sad.

Summary: This is why I really hate to see strips with Farley in them. Abuse, neglect, stupidity and the whole "Dog = slow-witted man in a suit" thing really get me ticked off. In the real world, Farley would simply follow along after one of the children because the loud sounds they make can't mean anything to him. The closest he could come to understanding what was going on is that the larger child chased off the runt of the litter.
