Panel 1: We switch focus from Mike's depressing trick-or-treat experience wherein he's indirectly denied happiness by idiot parents to Lizzie getting the fun directly sucked out. This is because we find her dressed as Lame-O the Clown telling a generic old lady Trickertreat because Lynn wants to nag her children about their English.
Panel 2: Having left the woman's house, Elly then tells Lizzie that that they are going home now that they've covered the neighborhood.
Panel 3: When Lizzie objects, POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR, Put-Upon Elly explains that she is tired and her feet hurt.
Panel 4: When Elizabeth tells Elly that she wants to go out with somebody younger next year, Elly gets gobsmacked.
Summary: Gee, A kid wanting to get free candy despite Mommy not having adequate arch support. What an inexplicable horror that could never have been anticipated. What's really interesting is that fifteen years later, Elly STILL didn't anticipate how far children would go for candy:
