Panel 1: Michael is approached by Elizabeth who gloats over the ice cream bar that John bought her when they were out shopping.
Panel 2: Since he thinks that he's been short-changed, Michael tells John that Lizzie got an ice-cream bar from the store and that he wants to know what HE got. Since John is a dick who doesn't like, tolerate or understand kids, this example of rather typical behaviour is treated like a hardship.
Panel 3: A weary-looking John hands Mike the same sort of ice-cream bar and tells him that he bought two of the blasted things.
Panel 4: Having noticed that Mike and Lizzie want to make damned sure that the other kid doesn't get more than he or she does, a pissed-off John asks "Shall we weigh them?"
Summary: The notes are a stupid look at how stupid Lynn's stupid childhood is stupid because she delights in remembering how anxious Alan was that things were all even so there were no hard feelings.
