(Strip Number 691, Original Publication Date, 28 August 1984)
Panel 1: Phil continues to remind us how addictive nicotine is by saying that he's been smoking since he was in junior high before asking how he can give it up now.
Panel 2: Elly asks how badly off Phil is and what the doctor said.
Panel 3: The doctor says Phil is normal, healthy and perfectly fine except for one thing.
Panel 4: Said thing is that his lungs sound like a barn full of owls.
Summary: While I've never smoked myself, I do know that it's really God-damned hard to quit. Add in the fact that Phil is terrified of change owing to having a comfort zone narrower than a human hair and you've got a recipe for disaster.
