Today's strip has Jim tell Michael that Marian's tendency to dither when he's in a hurry is a reassuring eccentricity.
(Strip Number 674, Original Publication Date, 8 August 1984)
Panel 1: It would seem that Mike's stay is at an end. That's because Jim's in the driveway asking himself where Marian is. That's because every time he's in a hurry to get somewhere, he gets waylaid by her need to have everything just so.
Panel 2:: Jim tells Michael that she has done the same thing for all of the 36 years that they've been married.
Panel 3: Michael asks Jim if he can go inside an'tell her to hurry up.
Panel 4:: A baffled Jim asks "What, and ruin a tradition?"
Summary: The reason that Jim simply grumbles about something he doesn't actually do something about is that he thinks that his wife is scratching a psychological itch and not being a jerk to anyone.
